Venue Description
The Counting House has been a free venue for 15 years, and is one of the largest free venues in Edinburgh, with six rooms between this venue and its sister venues West Nic Records and The Pear Tree every day from 10:00 to 03:00. There's a massive outdoor courtyard, four bars, a full restaurant food selection and giant outdoor screen. What better place could you hang out during The Fringe?
This venue is signed up to the Best Practice Code.
What makes this venue special?
Centrally located venue, close to all of the main Fringe venues. Three spaces, three bars, plus large outdoor area and stage. Part of the 'Free Festival', this venue is free to hire, and shows will be free to watch, with performers taking a collection at the end of the show. Suitable for all genres, large and small rooms for comedy, theatre productions, children’s shows, bands. A variety of spaces available.

Significantly upgraded for 2009, The Ballroom now has a large raised stage, new lighting, sound and seating. A large space, with a high domed ceiling (dome is covered during performances). Large back-stage and storage area. Suitable for all types of performance: Theatre, Comedy, Childrens, Bands, Music.
