SCOTLAND'S OLDEST BOXING CLUB LEITH VICTORIA AAC HOLDS MASTER CLASS TO 'FIGHT NIGHT'-THEMED AUSTRALIAN CIRCUS SHOW LE COUP

Company2

Acrobats from Australian troupe Company2's Fight Night-inspired Edinburgh Fringe circus show Le Coup will get into the zone for their Edinburgh Fringe run with a boxing masterclass by the head coach and some of the top fighters at Scotland'soldest boxing club, Leith Victoria AAC. The acrobats, whose show runs at Underbelly's Circus Hub until 24 August, will also teach the boxing club members some techniques to improve their strength and agility.

Le Coup begins previews on Saturday 3rd August and runs throughout the Fringe. The show is produced by celebrated Australia troupe Company2 and their previous hits include Cantina and Scotch and Soda, and is set on Fight Night in a travelling Australian boxing tent.

To get into character for a Scottish audience and hone their boxing skills the acrobats approached Scotland's oldest boxing club, Leith Victoria AAC, whose circus-mad head coach Gary Young used to work at the Fringe as private security and was only too happy to volunteer some expert advice. Leith Victoria AAC celebrated its centenary in June and its traditional boxing ring is housed in a beautiful listed building in Leith.

Photocall: Award-winning Ockham's Razor take over a Fringe venue

Ockham's Razor

After the success of Tipping Point, Total Theatre award-winning Ockham's Razor returns with This Time – a show about time, age and the stories we tell ourselves. With a cast ranging in age from 13 to 60 the show looks at perceptions of strength and age.

The acrobats are suspended high in the air and swung close to the ground in innovative takes on trapeze and swinging cradle. Because of this incredible apparatus, the company have taken over Saint Stephens Theatre independently from any of the recognised promoters in order to make their show a reality!
