There is a huge variety of venues and spaces at the Fringe and choosing where to perform is one of the most important decisions you will make. Before you start looking, please read the advice in the Fringe Guide to Doing a Show.

Lauriston Halls (both modernised) are situated between the Grassmarket and Tollcross, 10 minutes walk from Princes Street. The Large Hall has air conditioning and a wooden floor. It is a regular ceilidh (Scottish dance) venue popular with locals and visitors.

A basement craft beer bar located in Edinburgh City Centre, huddled away on West Nicholson Street underneath the Pear Tree and bounteous with amazing beers. There are free shows all day and night, and the venue is linked to the Pear Tree and Counting House which offer six more stages of free shows between them. It's an amazing hub of free Fringe entertainment.

Edinburgh’s premier party venue and the central Free Fringe hub. Four rooms of free shows running throughout the day and night, and a buzzing and vibrant courtyard in the centre of the Cowgate. The recently refurbished Pear Tree offers a huge selection of free shows throughout the day: comedy on its indoor stage all day and music on the outdoor stage – a huge courtyard with outdoor bars and barbecue to enjoy your Fringe days and nights in. Laughing Horse @ The Counting House

The Counting House has been a free venue for over a decade, and is one of the largest free venues in Edinburgh, with six rooms between this venue and its sister venues 32 Below and The Pear Tree every day from 10:00 to 03:00. There's a massive outdoor courtyard, four bars, a full restaurant food selection and giant outdoor screen. What better place could you hang out during the Fringe?

Laughing Horse @ Kick Ass Cowgate

Located on Cowgate, the Kick Ass is in a great location, being on the edge of the Old Town and a ten-minute walk from Waverly Station. There is a bar, and outdoor seating area – with Free and Pay What You Can Fringe shows on the ground floor level throughout August.
